In the opinion of A. A. Tait, this drawing relates in time and place or subject to those contained in Adam volume 7.This drawing is attributed to James Adam as typical of his careful and tight draughtsmanship. It probably belongs to his period in the Adam Scottish Office, 1755 - 1760, before he left for Italy.
