Notes
In the opinion of A. A. Tait, this drawing relates in time and place or subject to those contained in Adam volume 7.This is probably an alternative, and rejected, design for the Sea or Gothic Bridge at Inveraray, Argyll, Scotland, begun in 1758. The executed design - which collapsed in 1772 - was engraved for Vitruvius Scoticus, as designed by John Adam (see I. G. Lindsay & M. Cosh, inveraray and the Dukes of Argyll, Edinburgh, 1973, pp.136/7). At Blair Adam there is a design for a five-bay gothic bridge by Robert Adam dated 1753 (BA 465).
