Notes
In the opinion of A. A. Tait, this drawing relates in time and place or subject to those contained in Adam volume 55. This exercise on the form of a triumphal arch may be seen in several by Robert Adam (see Adam vol.55/41 and 148), and it can be compared with a similar unfinished pen and pencil drawing by Adam in Adam vol.4/109. The use of coloured paper is untypical of Charles-Louis Clérisseau (1721-1820) although it is found in the later compositions by Adam in Adam volume 10.
