Notes
This drawing is the companion to Adam vol.26/147, of which it is the mirror image, differing only in minor details such as the arm positions of the putto. They are larger versions of the composition in Adam vol.26/103 and 131, and all are probably by Nicolas-François-David Lhuiller (d.1793). The border, incomplete here, is shown in full in Adam vol.26/103. There is a poor copy of this composition in pen and grey wash, inscribed 'au Palais des Empereurs' in the Hermitage, St Petersburg, Russia (2284).
