Notes

This drawing and its companion in Adam vol.26/148 are larger versions of Adam vol.26/103 and 131, all of which are probably by Nicolas-François-David Lhuiller (d.1793). This drawing differs from principally in the foliage pattern and arms of the figure. The border is also shown in full in Adam vol.26/103. There is a poor copy of this composition in pen and grey wash, inscribed 'au Palais des Empereurs' in the Hermitage, St Petersburg, Russia (2284).
