Notes
This drawing, which suggests an antique fragment in a garden, is similar in the base perspective to that in Adam vol.26/69 and may well also be from the Colonna gardens, Rome (see also Adam vol.26/52). The sheet has been damaged and repaired with a patch sometime in the late nineteenth century. There is a poor copy of this composition in the Hermitage, St Petersburg, Russia (2215), which is smaller and is unhelpfully inscribed 'au Palais des Empereurs'.
