Design for a pilaster for the great drawing room, c1789, as executed (1)

Notes

Bolton and King both record the survival of painted pilasters in the great drawing room, executed to this design in flat relief and with a geometrical border. Bolton notes alterations to the pilasters pedestal, which is without ram masks and swags.

This design for pilasters is also evident in the wall-elevations for Adam volume 50/25.
