Purpose
Working drawing for the iron gate of the entrance screen, as executed (1)
Notes
The entrance has gates swinging from two iron posts, each post raised on a stone plinth and decorated with a lozenge motif crowned with a semicircle. The rhombus forms measure 10 7/16 inches wide and 1 foot 6 3/4 inches high.
Soane surveyed the entrance screen during his visit to Tyringham in September 1796, probably to check on the building as it neared completion (Jounal No 3).
