Purpose

Design for a ceiling for the dining room, as executed, c1786 (1)

Notes

It is not entirely clear, but it appears from photographs from the 1990s that Adam ceilings survived at least until that time in the hall, dining room and the octagonal dressing room. McKean, (ed.) refers to the collapse of one of the ground floor ceilings in the 1990’s, following deterioration in the building.
