[9] Finished drawing for the funerary monument of Major General James Wolfe, 1759, unexecuted
Aspect
Plan and elevation with a segmentally-topped sarcophagus ornamented with strigillation, acanthus leaves and acroteria, supporting a relief panel depicting Wolfe's death scene within a frame of fluted Doric pilasters and a Doric frieze of triglyphs and ox skulls, and flanked by male figures in Roman military dress, and surmounted by military trophies and figures - one being Victory presenting a laurel crown, and the other two being defeated enemy soldiers. The whole on a pedestal, flanked by pedestals ornamented with laurel leaves and ram masks, supporting spiral fluted columns with military trophies at the base, and surmounted by round caskets, and set against a pyramid in relief
