Purpose

Preliminary design for a chimneypiece for the little dressing room, 1766, unexecuted (1)

Notes

The inscription on this drawing implies some connection with Sir Rowland Winn, 5th Baronet, at Nostell Priory. It is possible that this chimneypiece design was offered to Sir Rowland for one of his attic rooms at Nostell, but it is not known to have been executed there.

The intended location of Adam's designs for the Rt Hon. James Stuart Mackenzie is unknown, and none of these designs are known to have been executed. See scheme notes.
