Notes
It is apparent from the inscription that another drawing for this room was made, and that this made use of the bookcases that are overdrawn in pencil either side of the chimneypiece. There is a similar drawing at the house, showing laid out wall elevations for the library, and including pedimented bookcases.
The executed library was demolished in 1825, and the space was divided into three. However, some of Adam's original bookcases survive in an alternative library on the storey above.
