Notes
The chimneypiece's architectural details, such as the moulding profile and pseudo four-centred arch, suggest a date coterminous with the reconstruction of the Exchequer range during the reign of Elizabeth I. It stood towards the south-east corner of the room beneath the Court of Exchequer, and is shown in elevation on SM Vol 48/6.
