Purpose
Preliminary designs, finished drawing and record drawings for embroidery designs for a circular pole screen, 1779, unexecuted (6)
Notes
There is a circular pole screen at Osterley, but it is not embroidered to any of these designs. It is not known for which room these fire screen designs were intended, and it is possible that they were designed for one of Robert Child's other houses at 38 Berkeley Square or Upton House. The date, however, suggests that they were more likely intended for Osterley, although they are not known to have been executed.
