Purpose
Finished drawing for a armchair for the state bedchamber, 1777, as executed (1)
Notes
The arm chairs in the state bedchamber were executed to this design. A set of six was made, but without carving to the back as they were intended to stand against the dado. Four of these chairs survive in situ, and two are within the collections of the V&A Museum. The design was modified in 1779 for Sir Abraham Hume at 31 Hill Street (SM Adam volume 17/86).
