Purpose
Design for a chair for the eating room, c1767, executed with minor alterations (1)
Notes
The eating room chair was executed as a set of 12 with minor alterations to this design and covered with red morocco leather, probably by Linnell. The chairs survive in situ.
A dining table was added to the eating room in c1800, but prior to this there were three gate-leg tables kept in the passage outside, which would be brought in for meals, and at other times the chairs were arranged around the walls.
