Purpose
[4] Record drawing for a ceiling for the saloon, 1770, unexecuted
Aspect
Plan of a rectangular, coved ceiling, with a tripartite central flat, divided by borders of anthemia and rinceaux with a central square compartment containing a rosette, encircled by a fan, within a lozenge-shaped guilloche frame, also enclosing rosettes, and encircled by peltoid shields; and this square is flanked by bordering rectangular compartments containing enclosed rosettes, lozenges, and vesica-shaped compartments containing scrolled hearts. The cove is ornamented with a border of Vitruvian scroll with foliage, medallions and lunettes containing alternating fans, and enclosed drops of calyx
