Purpose

Preliminary design and design for a bridge, 1776, unexecuted (2)

Notes

A bridge was built at Nostell by James Paine, but this design by Robert Adam was designed for another location at the crossing of the Doncaster Road with another road. It was not executed. There are two other extant Adam office drawings of 1776 for this bridge, one within the private drawings collection of Lord St Oswald, and the other in the National Trust drawings collection at Nostell Priory.
