Purpose
Finished drawing for a mirror frame for the great room, 1768, as executed (1)
Notes
This mirror frame was executed, in accordance with Adam's design, by Sefferin Alken in July 1768. According to Harris, the design was originally intended for the drawing room at Lansdowne House, but having been rejected by the Earl of Shelburne it was offered to Lord Coventry instead.
According to his bill sent to Lord Coventry, Adam made his design for the mirror frame for the great room in March 1768, at a cost of £4.4s., and a working drawing for the top and bottom of the frame in November of that year, for £1.0s.
