Alternative finished drawings for a chimneypiece for the great room, 1765 (2)
Notes
Only one of Adam's surviving chimneypiece designs for Coventry House is known to have been executed (Adam volume 22/70). The chimneypiece for the great room was carved from marble by John Devall in July 1765. For this design Adam charged £5.5s. in June 1765, and a further £1.11s.6d. for a working drawing. It is not known if the executed design was related to these drawings as the chimneypiece is now lost.
