Purpose

Finished drawings and record drawing for an addition to the house, c1763-65, unexecuted (3)

Notes

The extension proposed by Adam in these drawings was not executed, and instead, a plain extension of a later date was made. Although these designs were not executed, Adam is known to have made other alterations to the interior of 19 Arlington Street. He certainly refitted the stairwell, in a similar fashion to that at Kedleston Hall, and in 1922 Arthur Bolton reported that at that time Adam's stairwell survived.
