Purpose
Design for a passage, probably as executed, c1770 (1)
Notes
This passage, running on an east to west axis, was introduced to link the newly created entrance hall on the east front to the staircase, and was reproduced on the first floor. It is a fine example of Adam's ability to manipulate interior space into a variety of shapes.
