Purpose

[1] Preliminary drawing for a ceiling for the drawing room, 1770

Aspect

Plan of a rectangular ceiling containing a central rectangle bordered with guilloche. Inside the rectangle is a large oval, containing a small oval medallion containing an animal, outside which are arabesques. Framing the rectangle is a border with oval medallions in the centre of each side, flanked by arabesques and with enclosed rosettes in the corners
