[37] Preliminary design for a carpet for the eating room, 1780, unexecuted
Aspect
Plan of a rectangular carpet, with a space for a hearth slab, divided into nine octagonal compartments by vines. The central compartment contains a rosette encircled by a fan, and the side compartments show two alternatives of either a basket of flowers, or a panel containing winged putti or a lion and unicorn. The corner compartments contain enclosed rosettes, and the whole has a border of lozenges enclosing rosettes
