Purpose
Design for an orangery and a menagerie house, 1764, unexecuted (1)
Notes
This menagerie, intended for the Duchess of Manchester, was not executed. Again, it is possible that the building was not realised because of the Duke's financial difficulties (see scheme notes).
There is a map, dated 1763, by Cosmo Wallace, in the Kimbolton archive (Huntingdon Library and Archives), and from this it is possible to determine the proposed location for the orangery and menagerie house. This position is now occupied by the Kimbolton School sports hall.
