Preliminary designs and finished drawing for variant designs for the Crackmore Gate, 1767, unexecuted (3)
Notes
The Crackmore Gate is to the east of the castle, and was executed in 1767 as the new entrance to the park from the London Road. The executed gate does not follow Adam's designs.
King notes that Adam volume 31/115 is Adam's earliest dated castle style design sent to a client. This may have been superseded by his designs for remodelling the castle, but the gateway has the distinction of being an entirely new structure.
