Preliminary design for a pedestal, 1761, as executed (1)
Notes
Twelve pedestals were executed in wood to this design to support busts of Roman emperors around the walls of the Temple of Bacchus. Harris notes that it is almost identical to a pair of pedestals made for Croome Court, which, since 1948, have been in the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
