Purpose
[140] Preliminary design for the walls of the book room, 1768, unexecuted
Aspect
Section, with cornice and dado shown in profile, and showing the elevation for a three-bay wall, with a central door with a frieze of lozenges surmounted by a rectangular figurative overdoor panel, and flanked on either side by bookcases. The wall is articulated by semicircular-headed recesses between Doric pilasters, and the wall is ornamented with roundels and a frieze of lozenges
