Purpose

Designs for the cornice and impost for the circular banqueting room, c1770; it is not known if this design was executed (2)

Notes

It is not known if these designs for the cornice and impost in the circular banqueting room were executed as the entire record tower was found to be unsafe and demolished in the 1880s. Adam volume 39/13 is incorrectly inscribed in the hand of William Adam as being for a ceiling and this has previously caused confusion over the intended location for the design.
