Purpose
Preliminary design and record drawing for the ceiling of the music room, 1761, as executed (2)
Notes
The music room is located in the north-east corner of the principal floor of the central block between the hall and the drawing room. Scarsdale had initially intended to include a gallery music room in the south-east pavilion, as well as this music room, but the southern pavilions were abandoned in 1765. The ceiling was executed in accordance with this design and there is a matching finished drawing in the Kedleston drawings collection.
