Purpose

Finished drawing for the 'mosaic' ceiling for the library, 1761, as executed (1)

Notes

This drawing was incorrectly inscribed as being for Shardeloes by William Adam when he arranged the drawings into the folios after Robert and James's respective deaths. No such design was executed at Shardeloes, and the design is identical to the surviving Adam ceiling in the library at Kedleston. Harris had previously noted the similarity between this drawing and the Kedleston library ceiling.
