Design for the interior for the circular banqueting room, c1770, as executed (1)
Notes
Adam’s circular banqueting room was located on the first storey of the record tower, immediately above the muniment or record room. The interior of the room was executed in accordance with Adam’s design, and there is a finished drawing version of the design within the collection at Alnwick. This was the only Adam interior to survive Sir Anthony Salvin’s work in the 1850s, but the entire tower was found to be unsafe and was demolished in the 1880s.
