Purpose
Record drawings for the urn and cistern of a seventeenth-century wine fountain, c1760-62 (3)
Notes
Adam volumes 25/81-25/83 are all on one sheet. Adam volume 54/3/1 is a rough version of Adam volumes 25/82 and 25/83.
These drawings, along with the others of metalwork designed by James Stuart, were made by the Adam office in order to assist Adam in designing the plate arrangement for the sideboard tables in the niche of the dining room. The urn and cistern of the wine fountain were sold in 1947; the urn now belongs to the V&A, and the cistern to the Goldsmiths Company.
