Notes

The garrets on the third floor are contained within the body of the building including the four corner towers so that they look down on the roofs of the three projecting bays with gabled roofs washed in green.

Since Dance seems to be using information derived from the plates of Vitruvius Britannicus (IV, pls.75-7) and not the more up-to-date evidence of Basire's prints, [SM D2/11/7], [SM D2/11/8] and [SM D2/11/9] must represent an early scheme in which he relocates the stair, adds north and south extensions between the towers and inserts a second floor.
