Minutely detailed accounts from Russell, Vallance and Evans, carpenters and joiners, for 1815-16 include 'Mahogany Bookcases round Library' costing £627.15.11½ (and are signed 'Measured / James Carter'). Items included: 38 feet 9 inches of 'best Honduras mahogany', 10 feet of 'Fine Mahogany Veneer', 60 feet of 'Mahogany Quirk'd Moldings', 94 feet of 'Mahogany Molded framing / as Doors for Trellis Pannels', 'No 12 Circular Mahogany Bases & / Cornices by hand', '112 Mahogy / Molded Caps and Bases to Pilasters', '162 Mahogany turn'd / Pins', '4480 holes bored / in Mahogany for Pins', 43 feet 6 inches of 'Brass square Trellis halved / Diamond Mesh'. 74 feet 'Run Brass framing for Do'.

'Measured / James Carter' appears on the accounts (ASH 2828).
