Notes
This is a carefully finished design for a 12-leaved vase from which emerges a flattened, half-spherical fruit crowned by a stemless tulip holding a spherical posy of five-petalled flowers; the base consists of vigorously moulded annulets. This design corresponds to the finial shown in [SM D1/8/18] and is close to a finial design for Ashburnham ([SM D2/4/6]). Both are strongly Indian in character resembling kalashas (vases), an ornament found on Hindu temples.
