This burgonet, seen again in a schematic drawing from c.1515, is similar to Drawing 7, having a peak designed as an animal mask that merges with the skull, which in this case is treated rather like a snail’s shell, like the helmet in Verrocchio’s Alexander relief (Butterfield 1998, pp. 230–31, fig. 205), and a flange at the back with a scroll at the bottom.
