Notes
This schematically depicted burgonet (drawn c.1515) has a peak with horns that rather resembles a cow’s head but with its muzzle transformed into foliate decoration. The flange at the back does not project and there is no ear guard, while the skull is adorned at the front with a face seemingly surrounded by petals, at the back with fluting or gadrooning, and on the top by a boss.
