The depicted feature belongs to some sort of base, with a double plinth and then a ram’s head at the corner, above which is a curving band of guilloche decoration beneath a double scroll. It rather resembles the lowermost elements of an ancient candelabrum. The drawing’s style implies a date of c.1515.
