Notes
This vase – a volute krater – with a delicate double-tier base and a top rim decorated with simplified egg-and-dart, has tall scrolling handles attached to its shoulders by fanning lobes. The handles of the vase are similar to those of Drawing 11 and the juxtaposition is probably intentional. It is conceivably of antique origin. The drawing’s style suggests a date of c.1515.
