Notes
This feature would appear to be the right-hand half of a decorative design of horizontal format, formed of two scrolling elements (one shown) terminating in tendrils that are linked together by meeting at a foliate sprig. The faintly depicted horizontal base line suggests that the feature could have been for the top of a rectangular frame, perhaps similar to the one on the following page (Fol. 90v/Ashby 150), although it could have been an ornament for a vase or a piece of furniture. The drawing’s style suggests a date of c.1515.
