Notes
With its two toruses, two scotias and a single astragal at the centre, this base is of the same design as the one shown to its left, being like those of the internal upper storey of the Pantheon although a little smaller. Otherwise unrecorded, it was seen, as the caption establishes, in Santa Maria in Campitelli, a church situated a little to the north of the Theatre of Marcellus that was eventually rebuilt to a design by Carlo Rainaldi in 1659–67 (Wittkower 1937).
