Notes

Ashby was unable to identify this cornice which is distinctive in having a lengthy cyma recta beneath the corona. It may be the cornice of an entablature, although it could belong to a pedestal or an impost. A similar moulding, with an elongated cyma just below the corona and two cymas above it, was recorded by Baldassare Peruzzi on a sheet of studies and details all associated with the Temple of Venus and Rome, but it is not identical. The cornice is analogous to others recorded on this sheet in being devoid of surface decoration.
