This plan is of one of the bays of the ten-sided central space of the Temple of Minerva Medica at a height above the attached alcove, and it corresponds to the one-bay elevational drawing below it (Drawing 3). Like the other drawings on the sheet, it closely parallels one by Giuliano da Sangallo in the Codex Barberini, and it similarly depicts the bay directly opposite the main entrance. It covers slightly less of the rotunda than the Sangallo drawing, by excluding the portion of the adjacent bay to the right but it carries the same set of measurements, except for the one recording the width of the corner pier, omitted in the Codex Barberini but specified here as 7¼ braccia, a dimension that could have been calculated from others that are given.
The plan, like the accompanying elevation, is drawn to a slightly larger scale than the main plan. This may have been because the drawing would have otherwise appeared too small on the page, and there was space to make it larger.
