Notes

The door cresting with twin recumbent consoles with a scallop in the centre shown on [SM D1/3/7] is elaborated here and is like a Soanean stone ornament hung in the Monument Court of the Soane Museum.

The panelled doors are undecorated and elevations of the same door but of the breakfast room side ([SM D1/4/20] and [SM D1/4/19]) show that Dance wanted the door to appear wider within that room than in the Hall of Communication. His design for the side on to the Hall shows the door marked 3 feet 9 inches wide in an architrave with an inner width of 4 feet 11 inches. However, his solution changed in the later drawings ([SM D1/4/20] and [SM D1/4/19]).
