Notes
There were five steps up to each of the 'first landings'. Like [SM D1/4/67], the full-size detail lacks the scrolly brackets introduced in [SM D1/4/69] and [SM D1/4/68] though the half-inch scale elevation shows them. The freer treatment of the honeysuckle stamens found here is adopted for the executed design. Without the rosette ('flower') drawn in, it is easy to recognise the source of Dance's railing design as the Ionic capital of the gallery screen with its scrolly volute, eye and honeysuckle embellishment.
