Notes

Though the Ionic order was based on that of the small temple of Ilissus in Athens, measured and drawn by Stuart and Revett, Dance changed the base (for a similar detail, see Royal College of Surgeons, London ([SM D5/8/13] but left the shafts unfluted and 'added details and a plinth in the Asiatic Ionic manner' (Kalman p.161).
