Notes
Dance's first design for the stair railing ([SM D1/2/13]) used a scrolly 'S'; in [SM D1/2/16] he roughed out a lattice pattern for the gallery and elaborated this in [SM D1/2/15]; [SM D1/2/24], [SM D1/2/12], [SM D1/2/23], [SM D1/2/14] and [SM D1/2/27] have 'S' railings (addorsed for the gallery) with anthemion flourishes, rosettes and scrolly foot brackets added that give a sprightly note.
See [SM D1/4/33], [SM D1/4/67], SM D1/4/66], [SM D1/4/69] and [SM D1/4/68] for full size details of the stair.
See [SM D1/4/33], [SM D1/4/67], SM D1/4/66], [SM D1/4/69] and [SM D1/4/68] for full size details of the stair.
