Purpose

Preliminary design and design for a boathouse, 1778, unexecuted (2)

Notes

Adam's later designs for the boathouse at Burghley make use of three moorings instead of one. However, none of Adam’s designs for the boathouse at Burghley were executed, and it was built later, on the opposite side of the lake from the house, by an unknown architect, in a neo-Jacobean style.
