Notes

Rainaldi's unexecuted proposals for the church included the addition of transepts, a great dome over the crossing and a deep choir with an apse. He was following the general idea of Arduino Arriguzzi's model for the completion of S. Petronio, 1513-16. This, with Rainaldi's drawings (n. 16a and n. 16b), is in the Museo di S. Petronio.
